COLORDIMARE, association responsible for the Italian selection of the international contest A POSTER FOR THE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF UNDERWATER IMAGES - Antibes, France, is proud to present the first contest of underwater videos meant for the youngest.
"FUTURE IS BLUE" is the contest name and is originated from an initiative of the committee, represented by Maria GHELIA, charged by the INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF UNDERWATER IMAGES - Antibes and the OCEANOGRAPHIC INSTITUTE PAUL RICARD to organize the contest "UN POSTER PER IL MARE". The best drawings by students ranging from 3 to 19 years of age, will take part to the international selection which will choose the poster symbolizing the current year INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF UNDERWATER IMAGES.
As from 2006, the drawings contest is associated with this new initiative the purpose of which is to value and promote underwater videos for a privileged public of the youngest, and not only. The videos should transmit, through appropriate images and languages, love and respect for the underwater environment, from which – as experts have long been saying – the humanity future depends: future which is blue as the ocean and is represented by the new generations.
The videos, which must have as core the sea, underwater environment and water, will be judged by representatives of the final recipients chosen among students of the 5 th, 6 th and 7 th grade. This is the most important and newest element of the contest: we have thought correct to charge the youngest with the duty of the jury, sure that their choice will take into consideration parameters which not always are of an adult jury. Consequently, only the judgement of the final recipients will define rating and pleasantness of the videos.
This project has obtained the immediate and enthusiastic support of the INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF UNDERWATER IMAGES and the OCEANOGRAPHIC INSTITUTE PAUL RICARD. It is foreseen a meeting of the jury first, and lately a combined award session for the students winning "UN POSTER PER IL MARE" and video Authors winning "FUTURE IS BLUE", during which the winning videos will be shown to the public. Having obtained the Author’s permission, it is our intention to widely divulge these videos during no-profit didactic and social programs.
The "new-born" contest does not have, for the time beiing, great funds and sponsors: this does not mean that there will be no awards and recognition for the winners. Special plates with the Colordimare and Antibes Festival logos will be granted to the winning videos while the Author of the first rated video will have refund of registration fees to one video contest of his choice.
